I'm Epileptic & Can't Scuba Dive (As Told By GIFs)

Hey guys! Well after I canned my former blog, Not Done Travelling, and started this one, I intended for a long time to put some of my favourite posts from the old site up here. Unfortunately I just never got around to it. But I was thinking about this one the other day and decided to put it up. Here is the post that was my most popular from my former travel blog. Enjoy! There's something I haven't told you guys. I'm epileptic. It's really mild and I haven't had a seizure since 2006 (when I stopped taking my meds for a few months and then went without sleep for 48 hours). It really is a complete non event; I work, I drive, I do whatever the hell I please. It certainly doesn't stop me from travelling, hence why I've never mentioned it before. It's more of a pain in the butt having to tell people that I'm epileptic than it is actually having it. I also desperately want to learn to scuba dive one day. And until this week I must have been living under a rock, because I had no idea that would be a problem. Let me explain to you how the devastating verdict unfolded.

A Perfect Mess

Well, the wheels really fell off me, didn't they. After my last post I intended to share with you all about our move back to George Town but one thing after another kept stopping me, and before I knew it I wasn't even in Malaysia anymore. Here's what's gone down.

From Chiang Mai To Penang

I actually wrote this post out weeks ago, but something stopped me from posting it for quite some time. In fact, you may have been wondering why it's been a few weeks since my last update; well, there's a good reason. Since my last post, we moved from Chiang Mai to Penang, Malaysia, and I have to be honest, it's been somewhat of a bumpy transition.

Eating Vegan In Kata Beach

THE VEGANGUIDE TO   When it came to eating vegan in Phuket, I had actually arrived on the island with a bit of trepidation. I’d been told that eating vegan or even vegetarian was way harder in southern Thailand that it is in the north, and so I’d resigned myself to the fact that I might be eating most of my meals out of roadside fruit stands. Not that that idea bothered me – I love fruit! – but every now and then a girl needs a big bowl of rice, right?

My Daily Life In Chiang Mai

My dailylife inCHIANG MAI   So, the taller half and I have now been living in Chiang Mai for about three and a half months. We have around six weeks to go until we move on and to be honest that’s not really sinking in, because we have definitely settled into a routine here. I can definitely see this as a place where we could put down roots for a longer period. So I thought I would give you a little idea of how things are going and what our day-to-day lives are really like.

The Lost Book Club #3 - The Essential Vegan Travel Guide by Caitlin Galer-Unti

The Essential Vegan Travel Guide by Caitlin Galer-Unti. Check out my interview with Caitlin about her new book, and download yourself a copy!   In this installment of The Lost Book Club, we're reading a book that covers a topic close to my heart - travelling while maintaining a vegan diet! The truth is that before I went vegan, my biggest concern was that travelling as a vegan would be really difficult. In fact, I was convinced it would be way too hard to even attempt. After taking the plunge, however, I can assure you that it most definitely is much simpler than it sounds. This is why when I heard that a new vegan travel guide was coming out, I jumped on the opportunity to share it with you.

Obligatory End Of 2015 Post

My summary of 2015 - beginning life as a digital nomad, travel, and celebrating my one-year vegan anniversary.   I tried and tried to come up with a better name for this post. I really did! But you know how a working title sometimes sticks? Yeah. I pondered and pondered over what creative and, you know, not lame words I could come up with to describe this post to you, and I couldn’t decide on anything. So this will have to do. Here is what happened to me this year. Spoiler alert: It was hard, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Please Don't Feed The Monkeys!

Please Don't Feed The Monkeys! Why wild monkey feeding causes harm to our primate friends, and why we as tourists should avoid contributing to this activity.   If you caught my recent vlogs about our day at the Phi Phi Islands, you will have seen that we encountered some gorgeous long-tailed macaques on Phi Phi Don. We had a great time interacting with them and watching as they dove for the bananas thrown from our boat by our tour guide. I mentioned, however, that this really wasn’t a good idea and that by feeding them we were actually endangering them. But how, specifically, are monkeys endangered when well-meaning humans feed them? And why is monkey feeding something that both tour companies and individual travellers should cease?

Finding What Was Never Lost

How losing my Tarot cards showed me that often what we seek is with us all along   I’ve been in such a rush lately to get out all my travel-related posts and blogs that I’ve barely written about some of the other facets of this site. I’ve barely spoken about spirituality to you in ages, to the point that a newcomer to my blog could be forgiven for not even knowing that this is a huge part of my life.
